Whether 22bet takes new players from Iceland is unclear. Its General Terms, last updated 11 June 2026, do not name Iceland as a banned country, and the site even has an Icelandic version with ISK accounts. Yet the registration form served to an Icelandic connection on 9 October 2026 left Iceland out of its country list. The Kahnawake Gaming Commission lists Starsten Limited as permit holder for 22bet.com, and 22bet has no Icelandic licence. We are not a 22bet partner, so there are no links to it here.

22bet gets about 170 Google searches a month in Iceland. If you are looking up 22bet in Iceland, this page sets out what its own terms and sign-up form show, who stands behind the brand, its Swedish ban, and the betting sites we list as alternatives.

Can you sign up at 22bet from Iceland?

22bet’s General Terms do not contain a country list. The clause on access says the site “may be considered illegal in certain countries (including, for example, the United Kingdom etc.)” and that the fact the site is available in a country, or shown in its language, “cannot be considered official authorization”. You warrant that gambling is legal where you live, and 22bet can close the account if it learns otherwise.

The site itself sends mixed signals. From an Icelandic connection, 22bet.com/is/ opened fully in Icelandic and the sign-up form offered ISK. But the form’s country list (the one used for phone numbers) started with Kazakhstan and did not contain Iceland. The same form opened from a Finnish connection put Finland at the top. A German connection was refused with a “not available in your country” page. We cannot tell from the outside whether 22bet blocks Icelandic registrations or only hides Iceland in that list, so we class Iceland as unclear rather than accepted.

If you still want to know, ask 22bet’s support in writing and keep the answer. Do not use a VPN or a foreign address: the terms treat circumventing restrictions as grounds to void bets and block the account. The Icelandic law behind all this is in our guide on whether online gambling is legal in Iceland.

Who runs 22bet?

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s permit-holder list names Starsten Limited for 22bet.com, alongside 20bet.com and nationalcasino.com. 22bet’s terms point the same way: a clause on underage play says winnings may be forfeited “in accordance with the requirements of the Kahnawake Gaming Commission”. The terms do not name a company, and the footer shown to an Icelandic visitor carries only a copyright line, so the KGC list is the clearest public record. Older reviews tie 22bet to TechSolutions Group N.V. and a Curaçao licence; the current terms do not mention Curaçao.

That older link explains the Swedish ban. Spelinspektionen’s decision 22Si1604 of 20 September 2022, still in force, bans TechSolutions Group N.V. from the Swedish market and names 20bet.com, 22bet.com, nationalcasino.com and bizzocasino.com. The ban covers Sweden only and has no legal effect in Iceland, but it shows how regulators in a licensed Nordic market have treated the brand.

Deposits, withdrawals and ID checks

  • Methods: bank accounts, Visa and Mastercard, Skrill and NETELLER and other wallets, all in your own name. Minimums and maximums depend on the method.
  • Same currency, same method: deposits and withdrawals must use the same currency and method; with several methods, withdrawals are split in proportion.
  • Turnover first: 22bet can refuse a withdrawal if you have not bet the deposited amount at odds of at least 1.1.
  • Timing: requests are processed within five business days if there is no dispute.
  • Checks: ID, address and source-of-funds documents, a video call, or originals by post; document checks take up to 72 hours.
  • Dormant accounts: after 12 months without logging in, a fee of €10 a month can be charged.

With an ISK account you avoid the card currency premium (Landsbankinn’s is 2.30% on foreign-currency card payments). On a euro account, a €100 deposit costs about 13,700 kr. at 137.0 kr. per euro before that premium.

Bonus rules at 22bet

The Icelandic sign-up page on 9 October 2026 showed a sports welcome bonus of 100% up to €122 and a casino package of up to €1,500 plus 150 free spins over four deposits. We have not reviewed the wagering rules behind them, so we do not quote terms. If you cannot register from Iceland, none of it applies to you.

Safer gambling tools

22bet’s terms offer voluntary self-exclusion for 1 month, 6 months or 1 year. Your account is closed for that period, and you have to contact support to restart afterwards. 22bet may lift the exclusion early on request, which is weaker than tools that cannot be reversed. Iceland has no national self-exclusion register, so an exclusion at 22bet does not cover other sites.

22bet in the Icelandic news

A search of fjölmiðlanefnd’s website on 9 October 2026 found no decision or opinion naming 22bet. The media fines so far concern Coolbet (Sýn, 2022) and Rizk (Síminn, 2025) ads.

Tax on 22bet winnings

22bet makes you responsible for taxes on winnings. In Iceland, betting winnings are taxable income under lög 90/2003, 7. gr. A-liður 4. tölul., and the exemption covers only the domestic licensed operators and licensed lotteries (in Iceland, the EEA, EFTA or the Faroes) that give all their profit to good causes. Declare winnings from 22bet to Skatturinn.

22bet compared with the betting sites we list

Point 22bet Betting sites we list
Iceland sign-up Unclear: Iceland missing from the sign-up country list Iceland not on the restricted list in their shared terms
Licence Kahnawake permit (Starsten Limited) Anjouan (Comoros); none licensed in Iceland
Currency ISK listed Euro accounts only
Icelandic language Yes No; English interface
Sports welcome offer 100% up to €122 shown Up to €5,000 at Smash Casino, 5x wagering at odds of 1.80 or more
Withdrawals Within 5 business days Minimum €100, at most €1,000 a day and €10,000 a month

22bet looks friendlier on paper, with Icelandic pages and krónur, but a site that leaves your country out of its sign-up form is a poor bet for a first deposit. The sites we list run in euros and English, cap bets at €2 while a sports bonus is active and limit daily withdrawals, but their shared terms do not restrict Iceland.

How we checked this page

On 9 October 2026 we read 22bet’s General Terms and Definitions (last updated 11 June 2026), its General Terms and its Deposits and Withdrawals section, opened 22bet.com/is/ and the registration form through an Icelandic connection, and repeated the registration request through Finnish and German connections. We checked the Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s permit-holder list for 22bet.com, used Spelinspektionen’s decision 22Si1604 for the Swedish ban, and searched fjölmiðlanefnd’s website for 22bet. Gunnar Sigurðsson wrote the page and Helga Björnsdóttir checked the legal and tax points. Iceland Casino has no commercial relationship with 22bet.

Frequently asked questions

Does 22bet accept players from Iceland?

It is unclear. 22bet’s General Terms (last updated 11 June 2026) do not name Iceland or publish a full list of banned countries, and the site has an Icelandic version with ISK. But the registration form served to an Icelandic connection on 9 October 2026 did not include Iceland in its country list, while it did for Finland. Ask 22bet support in writing before you deposit.

Who runs 22bet and which licence does it use?

The Kahnawake Gaming Commission’s permit-holder list names Starsten Limited for 22bet.com, and 22bet’s terms refer to KGC requirements. The terms themselves do not name the operating company. 22bet has no Icelandic licence.

Does 22bet have an Icelandic website and ISK?

Yes. 22bet.com/is/ shows the site in Icelandic, and its registration form lists ISK (Íslensk króna) among the account currencies, as seen on 9 October 2026.

Why is 22bet banned in Sweden?

Spelinspektionen’s decision 22Si1604 (20 September 2022), still in force, bans TechSolutions Group N.V. and names 20bet.com, 22bet.com, nationalcasino.com and bizzocasino.com. It applies to Sweden, not Iceland.

How long do 22bet withdrawals take?

22bet’s terms say withdrawal requests are processed within five business days, if there is no dispute, and that it can ask for ID, source of funds or a video call first. Withdrawals go back to the deposit method.

Are 22bet winnings taxed in Iceland?

Yes. Betting winnings are taxable income under lög 90/2003, 7. gr. A-liður 4. tölul. The tax exemption only covers Iceland’s licensed operators and licensed lotteries (in Iceland, the EEA, EFTA or the Faroes) that give all their profit to good causes.

Casino reviews, bonuses and games

Gunnar writes Iceland Casino's English casino reviews and bonus guides, and the pages on games such as slots and live casino. He starts every review with the casino's own terms rather than its promotion banner, and works out what a bonus costs to clear in euros and krónur before he calls it good value. He records the date he saw each offer, flags withdrawal caps and maximum-bet rules, and points out what a casino does not offer Icelandic players, such as ISK accounts. Every page he writes is checked by a second editor.
