1xBet’s own terms do not list Iceland as a forbidden country, so an Icelandic resident can open an account at 1xbet.com, and the registration form we loaded from an Icelandic connection on 9 October 2026 preselected Iceland and Icelandic krónur. The site is run by Caecus N.V. in Curaçao under Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA) licence OGL/2024/1262/0493. Like every foreign bookmaker, it holds no Icelandic licence. We are not a 1xBet partner, so this page has no links to it.
About 720 Google searches a month in Iceland are for “1xbet”, and many of them are people asking whether 1xBet in Iceland works at all. Below we set out what 1xBet’s terms say, how the licence checks out in the CGA register, its record with regulators elsewhere, and the betting sites we list instead.
1xBet at a glance

| Iceland in the terms | Not on the forbidden-territories list |

Can you sign up at 1xBet from Iceland?
Section 2 of 1xBet’s Terms of Service (“General Terms”) carries the country rule. It says, in 1xBet’s words: “The list of explicitly forbidden territories is: Australia, Curacao, France, Netherlands, Spain, the U.S.A or the U.S.A dependencies, the United Kingdom, Aruba, Bonaire, Saba.” Iceland is absent. The terms page shows no version number or date, so we record that we read it on 9 October 2026.
The same section pushes the legal question back to you. You “warrant to us that gambling is legal in the territory where you reside”, and if 1xBet learns that you live where its use is illegal, it can close the account and refund the balance after deducting winnings credited since your last deposit. That clause matters in Iceland, because money gambling here needs a special act of parliament and 1xBet has none.
In practice the site works from Iceland. A request through an Icelandic connection loaded the site normally, and the registration page opened with Iceland as the country and ISK as the currency. The same page requested through a UK connection returned “Access denied!”. If you travel, do not try to get around a block with a VPN: 1xBet’s terms treat attempts to circumvent restrictions as grounds to block an account.
For the Icelandic side of the question, read our guide on whether online gambling is legal in Iceland. The short version: no foreign betting site is licensed here, players have not been prosecuted for betting abroad, and the law restricts the promotion of unlicensed gambling.
Who runs 1xBet, and is the licence real?
The footer on 1xbet.com names Caecus N.V. as operator and says the CGA licence was granted on 7 November 2024 under the National Ordinance on Games of Chance (the LOK). We checked the CGA’s own online-gaming register, dated 2 October 2026: it lists Caecus N.V., registration number 163779, under OGL/2024/1262/0493 as a B2C licence with an issue date of 24 December 2025, no expiry date and the status “Indefinite”. The register notes that it does not guarantee current validity, so check it again before you deposit.
Two practical limits follow. The CGA does not settle individual player disputes; you complain to 1xBet first and then to an alternative dispute resolution body. And no Icelandic authority can act on a Curaçao licence.
1xBet’s history with regulators is long. The best documented case from a regulator itself is Dutch: on 25 February 2019 the Kansspelautoriteit fined 1X Corp N.V. and Exinvest Limited €400,000 for offering 1xbet.com, xbet-1.com and at least 83 other gambling sites in the Netherlands without a licence between 16 February and 26 July 2018. The appeal was withdrawn and the fine became final on 4 July 2019. 1X Corp N.V. was the earlier operator; today’s terms name Caecus N.V.
Deposits, withdrawals and ID checks
- Currency: ISK was offered at registration. If you pay with a card or wallet in another currency, 1xBet converts at the rate set on its site at that moment, and your bank may add a premium; Landsbankinn’s card FX premium is 2.30%.
- Methods: no cash or cheques; payments go through approved electronic methods or bank transfer, and 1xBet may refuse a withdrawal channel and insist on a bank transfer.
- Processing time: the account rules allow up to seven business days per withdrawal, depending on the method.
- Verification: 1xBet can ask for ID at any time, including a photo of you holding your ID or a video call. Document checks can take up to 72 hours, and some payment-system checks up to 180 days, during which the account can be blocked.
- Your own name only: every payment instrument must be registered to the account holder.
An ISK account saves the conversion fee on deposits, but it does not change the licence position or the tax rules described below.
Bonus rules at 1xBet
The registration form we saw on 9 October 2026 offered a sports first-deposit bonus “up to 16000 ISK” and a casino and 1xGames package “up to 240000 ISK + 150 FS”. 1xBet says all current offers and their rules live on its Bonus Program page and can vary by country, payment method and opt-in. Its account rules add that promo codes only work on the main wallet; using one on another currency wallet cancels the offer and any wagering progress. We have not tested these offers, so read the wagering and odds rules on 1xBet’s site before you accept anything.
Safer gambling tools
1xBet’s responsible-gaming page offers a cooling-off period of 24 hours, 7 days, 1 month or 3 months, which you can apply to one product type or to everything. Self-exclusion runs for set periods from 1 year up to 10 years, or for life, takes effect immediately and cannot be reversed early. The page also shows a session timer while you are logged in. Exclusion at 1xBet covers 1xBet only: Iceland has no national self-exclusion register.
1xBet in the Icelandic news
A search of fjölmiðlanefnd’s website on 9 October 2026 returned no decision or opinion naming 1xBet. The Icelandic media cases so far concern other brands: Sýn was fined ISK 1 million in 2022 over Coolbet ads, and Síminn ISK 1 million in 2025 over Rizk ads.
Tax on 1xBet winnings
1xBet’s terms leave taxes to you. In Iceland, winnings from bets are taxable income under lög 90/2003, 7. gr. A-liður 4. tölul. The exemption covers only Iceland’s licensed operators and lotteries licensed in Iceland or elsewhere in the EEA, EFTA or the Faroes that give all their profit to good causes, so 1xBet winnings should be declared to Skatturinn.
1xBet compared with the betting sites we list
| Point | 1xBet | Betting sites we list |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | Curaçao (CGA) | Anjouan (Comoros); none licensed in Iceland |
| Currency | ISK offered at registration | Euro accounts only, no ISK |
| Language | No Icelandic | No Icelandic; English interface |
| Sports welcome offer | First-deposit bonus up to 16,000 kr. shown at sign-up | Up to €5,000 (about 685,000 kr.) at Smash Casino; 5x wagering at odds of 1.80 or more |
| Withdrawals | Up to 7 business days to process | Minimum €100 (13,700 kr.), at most €1,000 a day and €10,000 a month |
| Regulator record | Dutch fine of €400,000 (2019) on the earlier operator | See each review for the operator’s record |
1xBet wins on currency: an ISK account avoids the card premium that a euro account costs you. The sites we list publish fixed sports packages with low 5x wagering, but they cap bets at €2 while a bonus is active and limit withdrawals to €1,000 a day. Neither side is licensed in Iceland.

How we checked this page
On 9 October 2026 we loaded 1xbet.com through an Icelandic connection and read section 2 (General Terms) of its Terms of Service, the Accounts, Payouts and Bonuses rules and the responsible-gaming page, and opened the registration form to see the country and currency it offered. We compared the result with a request through a UK connection. The licence number in the footer was matched against the CGA online-gaming register PDF dated 2 October 2026. We read the Kansspelautoriteit’s published sanction summary for 1X Corp N.V. and Exinvest Limited, and searched fjölmiðlanefnd’s website for 1xBet. Gunnar Sigurðsson wrote the page and Helga Björnsdóttir checked the legal and tax points. Iceland Casino has no commercial relationship with 1xBet.
Frequently asked questions
Can I sign up at 1xBet from Iceland?
1xBet’s own terms do not bar Iceland. The list of explicitly forbidden territories in section 2 (General Terms), read on 9 October 2026, names Australia, Curaçao, France, the Netherlands, Spain, the USA and its dependencies, the United Kingdom, Aruba, Bonaire and Saba. Iceland is not on it, and the registration form we loaded from an Icelandic connection preselected Iceland and ISK.
Is 1xBet licensed in Iceland?
No. 1xbet.com is run by Caecus N.V. under Curaçao Gaming Authority licence OGL/2024/1262/0493. Iceland has no licence for online casinos or foreign betting sites, and a Curaçao licence has no standing here.
Can I play at 1xBet in Icelandic krónur?
Yes, according to the registration form we saw on 9 October 2026, which offered Icelandic króna (ISK) as the account currency for an Icelandic visitor. The site itself has no Icelandic language option, so the interface is in English or another language.
Has 1xBet been fined by a regulator?
Yes. The Dutch Kansspelautoriteit fined 1X Corp N.V. and Exinvest Limited €400,000 on 25 February 2019 for offering 1xbet.com, xbet-1.com and at least 83 other sites in the Netherlands without a licence. The decision became final on 4 July 2019. No decision by fjölmiðlanefnd in Iceland names 1xBet.
How long do 1xBet withdrawals take?
Its account rules say processing may take up to seven business days, depending on the payment method, and identity checks on submitted documents can take up to 72 hours. Some payment checks can last much longer.
Are 1xBet winnings taxed in Iceland?
Yes. Betting winnings are taxable income under lög 90/2003, 7. gr. A-liður 4. tölul. The exemption only covers Iceland’s licensed operators and licensed lotteries (in Iceland, the EEA, EFTA or the Faroes) that give all their profit to good causes, not a commercial Curaçao bookmaker.
